WorkStart at Orchard Hill College
WorkStart courses are supported employment courses (entry level to Level 2) that are aimed at providing practical real work placements with support from a job coach. Resulting in a qualifications and a long term placement that can be paid work, volunteering or an apprenticeship. Courses are delivered with high support levels and can be a fresh experience of education that is different from the mainstream
Who is the service for?
This is for young people 16+ & 19+ with barriers to learning. Barriers could include disability learning disability, neuro diversity, mental health, missed education no qualifications, unable to access mainstream education.
Criteria for access to service
16 – 18 with an EHCP, 19+ free to access, there are no entry requirements to access course

This is an accessible service and placements are sort to match individual specific requirements to accessibility
How can I access this service?
Application form to be made for an initial assessment. Applications can be made by individuals, on behalf of an individual by parents, local authorities or school or college.
Do you need to pay for this service?
There is no cost to the individual for courses
How is this service funded?
If aged 16 -18 funded by local authority via EHCP, 19 + funding is provided by SFA
